About the music

With an average of four acts a night, seven nights a week, the 12 Bar Club has certainly seen one heck of a lot of music over the years. Focusing on a variety of good, original singer/songwriters from solo acts through to full bands.

But that doesn't mean there is any lack of musical diversity at the 12 Bar Club. By introducing independent promoters on selected nights, the club hosts a heady mix of musical styles. For instance, the 'London Callin' night on the last Saturday of each month features, among other things, a strong ska/punk flavour, and let's not forget the Blang! 'anti- folk' nights run by Sergeant Buzfuz where the Sergeant strictly enforces a policy of 'no stools, no beards, no bongos' and although in the tradition of relating a message with acoustic instruments, this music can be fast and furious.

Then there are the 'MMM...Nice night' by Barley Wheel and the 'Hieronymous Bisch Bosch' promoted nights on the last Thursday of the month. Each night providing it's own unique flavour.

So there are plenty of musical styles to choose from at the 12 Bar Club.

If pushed, we would say that the traditional sound of the 12 Bar Club tends to be acoustically driven pop/new folk/new country style bands who are armed with acoustic guitars, piano/keyboard, bass and drums and have a clutch of well crafted songs to perform.

So check the Gig Listings page for details of who is playing what and when and to find the ticket booking details for some of our more popular nights which, due to the intimate size of our club, tend to quickly sell out.
